The arrival of Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) at the Islands of Central America, 500 years ago, is the theme of EUROPA CEPT - 92 stamp issue. Columbus plan to reach Asia through West was turned down by Portugal since 1485 and despite his perseverance, but he was finally supported by the Catholic kings of Spain.
