Mother Teresa, the Roman Catholic nun who worked with the poor in the Indian city of Kolkata (Calcutta), will be declared a Saint on 4th September 2016.

She founded a sisterhood "The Missionaries of Charity" in 1950 that runs 19 homes and has 4500 nuns worldwide. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and Bharat Ratna in 1980.

She was born on 26th August in 1910 in Skopje, Macedonia and died on 5th September in 1997 in Kolkata, India.

She was beatified in 2003 by Vatican, the first step to sainthood.
