LETTERS OF LIFE.
The discovery of the structure of DNA is probably the most important development in biology since Darwin's Origin of Species. James Watson and Francis Crick determined the molecular structure at the University of Cambridge in 1953, and Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins of King's College, London contributed vital data to the findings.
DNA is the chemical carrier of inheritance, in every living cell of every living thing. When the two scientists confirmed that DNA was two strands of four nucleotides repeated at enormous length, coiled in a double helix, they had simultaneously identified the code of life, and how it replicated itself.
