" To celebrate County Cricket 1873-1973 the Test and County Cricket Board has issued a Medallic First Day Cover.
It commemorates the 100th anniversary of the formation, in 1873, of a committee made up of delegates from each of the first class cricketing counties which established the residency rules on County cricket...
The first day of issue of the stamps was 16 May 1973 with the cancellation carried out by the Post Office at Lords Cricket Ground.
The 39 mm sterling silver proof medal was minted by John Pinches.It depicts on the obverse a scene of a game in progress at Lords Cricket Ground, with the famous pavilion in the background.
The reverse shows the official badges of all 17 of the first class county cricket clubs.
Reverse of cover has the Certificate of Authenticity.
