The Oesterreichische Nationalbank issued Austrian Schilling banknotes in 5 different denominations, including this 20 Austrian Schilling banknote (Carl von Ghega). They are part of the Austrian Schilling banknotes pre-1983 series. The Oesterreichische Nationalbank started issuing these 20 Austrian Schilling banknotes in 1967. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1986.
Pictured on the twenty Schilling banknote is Carl von Ghega. Born in Albania, he became Austria’s most important railway architect and civil engineer during the 19th century.
